FINAL LEG OCT 2021

FINAL LEG OCT 2021 We have been so fortunate to have nice weather and a great site and view in Killbear Provincial Park.   We were able to cycle a bit, relax and enjoy the park, the changing colours. We even saw two deer! Sunrise from our back door    We were also fortunate to have some family join us for Thanksgiving, cooking a Turkey roll in the oven and all the fixin’s along with yummy homemade desserts courtesy of Amie.   We managed a bit of a hike:   pic from behind is Dad and Daughter.   The park is fairly busy and will stay open until the end of October for camping.   This whole trip has been an electrical shortage (LOL.). On our last night in Killbear, a bit of a storm and the power went off for about 4 hours.   Wasn’t sure if it was going to come back on and reverted to our portable power plant (Jackery) which is a 1000 watt Lithium 120 volt/USB, 12 volt battery pack that will run just about anything in the trailer. Along the way   W...

OTTAWA/HUNTSVILLE/PARRY SOUND Interesting Rail-Trail (Osgoode Link Pathway) ride from Manotick Station to Osgoode where we had a super lunch at the Red Dot Café.   I think we had the best homemade mushroom soup ever.   On our last night in the Ottawa area, we had an amazing dinner prepared by Shirley, Elizabeth’s cousin and her daughter Kathryn and husband Bill.   Kathryn and Bill are retired and world travellers currently grounded in Canada by Covid.   They have an interesting blog of their adventures and we have had much to discuss when we get together.   They have a self-renovated camper van and can’t wait to be able to move a bit more freely with it. Saturday night at the camp wagon ride: Our spot at Sleepy Cedars, Manotick near Ottawa We are just catching the early-mid stages of colour change in Algonquin Park…so beautiful as we drive through. I signed up again with the New Horizons Band Guelph “Little Big Band” and rehearsals have started.   Of...

23 SEPT 2021 Yes and thanks to you, I exceeded my goal twice in my campaign “Pedal for Portage” and raised over $1111.   Thank you soooo much.   Portage is a residential facility in Elora specializing in youth addictions and a worthwhile cause.   Read more here:   https://portageontario.akaraisin.com/ui/81862DF57A5B47C6ABFA0260D8990166 Saturday night we had dinner with friends from Montreal who met us in Vankleek Hill at a nice restaurant.   We haven’t seen them other than Zooming for, you know, 1 1/2 or 2 years. Sunday after much effort, our church, Harcourt United Memorial Church in Guelph went live.   It was a thrill to watch and an example of how people (Elizabeth and I) can attend church from afar when we are not able to physically be there.   The broadcast went well with some glitching and glitches that need working out and a bit of fine tuning. I have been very involved in this project for probably close to ten years.   There wa...

Peterborough/Ottawa 16 Sept. 2021 So by now you know we like to cycle. Peterborough has a great trail/rail trail system and today we cycled to Lakefield for lunch at the Nutty Bean Café…a great place for lunch.   We returned on the same trail which is fairly flat with a very low grade approx. 36 km round trip.   This is the furthest in one day for us this year.   We used to ride as much as 80km and I have rode (ridden?) as much as 166km (100 Miles called a “century”) but that was BC (Before Covid) and BHBABTBRC (Before Hearts/Before Ankle Breaking Tandem riding/Before Rotator Cuff surgery)   If you don’t know us, let’s just say we have had some setbacks but still enjoying the ride as much as possible.   Elizabeth received a new bike this May.   It was a year in the making but well worth it. So this year I am riding to raise funds for a good cause (not by myself as Elizabeth has been riding with me): Between Sunday, September 12 and Saturday, Septembe...
