Yes and thanks to you, I exceeded my goal twice in my campaign “Pedal for Portage” and raised over $1111. Thank you soooo much. Portage is a residential facility in Elora specializing in youth addictions and a worthwhile cause.

Saturday night we had dinner with friends from Montreal who met us in Vankleek Hill at a nice restaurant. We haven’t seen them other than Zooming for, you know, 1 1/2 or 2 years.
Sunday after much effort, our church, Harcourt United Memorial Church in Guelph went live. It was a thrill to watch and an example of how people (Elizabeth and I) can attend church from afar when we are not able to physically be there. The broadcast went well with some glitching and glitches that need working out and a bit of fine tuning.
I have been very involved in this project for probably close to ten years. There wasn’t a budget that went by that I wasn’t asked to price up a streaming cost. Joan Barham would be pleased as it was a real vision of hers that this would happen.
Adrian and Erin (my, Jerry, nephew and his wife) came for dinner tonight. It was so nice to see them and have a great chat. I think we’ll see them one more time before we depart.
Today, Monday, we cycled around town from Little Italy down around behind the Parliament buildings (!HOPE EVERYONE VOTED TODAY!) and back to City Center plaza for some smoked pulled pork (and Putine with mine.) Yum. See the shots below.
Interesting that the non-alcoholic Apple Cider is called SOBR and canned in Vankleek Hill where we had dinner on Saturday night.
The weather has been so nice for cycling that we headed back into Ottawa and cycled a larger loop around the city the next day. Part of the route took us through the experimental farmland…in the middle of the city!
This time we passed the rock sculpture display at Remic Rapids and chatted with the artist: John Ceprano
We had been by his work 10-12 years ago when we were cycling this route. It is amazing how intricate everything is being balanced, no glue, only to be dismantled in the fall for the next year. His theme this year was honouring the residential school children.
Another tidbit. Remember Aunt Jemima pancake mix? One of our favourites. They re-branded their pancake mix and renamed it Pearl Milling Company. At first I thought “WHAT?” Not the renaming just why that name? Then I noticed it’s made in Canada! So…I read the background.
The pancake mix was first milled in 1889 in St. Joseph Missouri-Pearl Milling Company. This pancake mix is now made in Peterborough! I found that little bit of Trivia interesting.
Footbridge across the Rideau

Great pictures! We’re heading to Ottawa tomorrow. Staying at my son’s who live in Overbrook - 20 minute walk from that Rideau footbridge.
